FROM WOMEN WHO PREFER SWEATY ARMPITS TO THE TOOTH FAIRY WITH £200 TO SPARE ....

Please note whilst I endeavour to keep Monday Media family friendly some of the articles featured do have links to articles of a more adult nature. TT

Hmm! It might sound like the most unlikely of dating tips BUT ...
Scottish scientists claim women have evolved to prefer the type of smell that eating garlic produces in armpit sweat to the smell of aftershave.

I don't know about sinister, I think this rather a nice idea.

A room for rent in London. All inclusive, only £1 a month? The 'sinister' twist? You have to be a single woman and sleep in the same room as someone who has a fear of being alone.

Bottom of the league and yet still more than the 10p I used to get.

Research by, you guessed, a dental practice has revealed a table showing that one in ten children received £10.00 (approximately $15.12) per tooth from the tooth fairy - that's £200.00 (approx. $302.40) for a full set of milk teeth - with children in London receiving on average £2.50 (approx. $3.78) per tooth and those in Newcastle (my home town) £1.00 (approx. $1.51).

I am not sure I see anything sinister about the roommate deal either--unless the person in question expects to sleep in the same bed as you or will do things to you while you sleep maybe. But it doesn't seem like that is the case.

I've been wondering what the going rate was for teeth today, given my daughter will be losing some of hers soon enough. I think I received 25 cents to 50 cents.

Okay. I totally disagree about the garlic armpit smell. I most definitely do not prefer any garlicky smell to aftershave!

While I do love the smell of garlic, I don't think I would like it "recycled" through an armpit. Ugh!

I remember thinking 25 cents was a good haul from the tooth fairy. Seems like my kids got a dollar. Even so...the tooth fairy only paid for the front eight teeth at our house.

I'm thinking the garlic thing is due to the altering of the bacteria in the armpit? Hm... I don't know but then again, I don't want to do the kind of experiment to find out. :p

It seems the tooth fairy pays differently everywhere. I heard someone at work say she gave her children $20 each for their first lost tooth. That seems like a lot to me!

I do like garlic- not sure if I like it coming out of armpits, but who knows. :)

Ew, garlic armpit smell? What? haha

As for the roommate thing, is it another female? Because I wouldn't really mind that. It's like having a roommate at college or something.

Hi Tracy,

We both take 1 odourless garlic tablet a day, however I can't think that either of us have noticed a change in the smell of our armpit sweat, although it's not something I usually go around sniffing anyway! If I were to notice any change, I would certainly be suspending the medication, as I much prefer the aroma of after shave :)

Apparently, the going rate for the tooth fairy is £2 a tooth down here in the south, which is still a vast increase on the silver 6d piece (3 pence)I used to get - That's a huge infation rate! I just have visions of all these children deliberately loosening teeth and causing all kinds of unseen damage, just to get the tooth fairy cash!

Great Monday post, as ever :)

The cost of a full set of teeth from the tooth fairy is very reasonable. I just Googled, it looks like a full set of dentures is going for around $1300 here in the USA :)
