MEDIA MONDAY PLUS EUROVISION.

My apologies, I'm afraid that medical appointments combined with the fact that there just weren't many articles that 'tickled my fancy' this week (in my favour I have included links to the ones that did below) to say nothing of EUROVISION on Saturday meant I haven't been able to put together my usual Monday post. Sequins (not too mention cleavage) aplenty, raunchy maids-a-butter churning, a man running in a giant hamster wheel, another man informing us he didn't want to be a cheesecake, and, well, Austria's Conchita Wurst ..... it could only be Eurovision 2014.

Full of the usual wackiness and political voting there were only two things really different about this year .... Mr T and yours truly managed to pick the entry that was to come second. Not bad going considering it isn't unknown for our choice to score null points - Oh, and the UK's entry didn't come last.

Anyway, below are two of the entrants. One our choice and the other the song that went on to win, the idea being to see if you can guess which is which - I've obscured the answers (scroll over them to view) so no peaking until you have guessed. Oh, and though I'd love to know your thoughts on the acts and which act YOU thought we'd picked please don't gave away the answer in your comment.

- Austria's Rise Like A Phoenix sung by Conchita.
(The winner)

- The Netherlands' Calm After The Storm sung by Ilse De Lange and Waylon.
(Our Choice)

I like the first one better--but mostly because I love melodramatic music!

I couldn't help but shake my head at the cabbage-walking article. Odd, to say the least!

Walking cabbage is interesting. More interesting when they throw it out the negative feelings are also out..good..:)

I enjoyed both music clips, but they're so different it would be like trying to compare apples and oranges. Both have their merits.

Cabbage walking is certainly harmless and if it helps, why not.

LMAO where do you find all this stuff, I can honestly say yours in the only blog I go to, and I visit a lot, that makes me laugh so much. I love these wee articles.

I didn't watch the Eurovision, I never do but the winner has had so much coverage. Well done!

Thank you for the laughs this morning. :-)

I will have to wait and watch the videos later, when I'm in a more private setting (I don't have my headsets handy). The winner was all over Facebook last night and so that's already been spoiled for me. I am anxious to hear your favorite though!

I enjoyed both videos. Conchita is a new to me singer, quite stunning.

It's fun to walk a cabbage, I suppose. Or at least it's funny.

Great stories today.

I liked both music, though they are different.

I have to say I liked the second one. It had a better musicality to it, but I like the showmanship of the first one. :)

Hi Tracy,

Being an avid Disneyholic, I won't have a word said against Pinocchio. Everyone knows that he doesn't tell lies!!!

Eurovision is a very much maligned topic in our house, at least it is by me! All that money for the biggest party political broadcast in the world and this year's winner was a definite 'nil pointer' from me!

Some great laugh out loud stories, as always.

Thanks for that and have a good week,

Yvonne

Experimenting with cabbage is an option. Got to try that next time.

Excellent choices Tracy! I laughed about the policeman but how will he ever live it down. Cabbage walking – well now I’ve heard everything!
I liked Conchita’s song on the show but having listed to it in the car yesterday; I'm not so sure. I think all the hype, and dramatic staging made it sound better than it really is. Or maybe it just has to grow on me.

I really like Conchita Wurst and her song. It has a real Shirley Bassey feel to it. I didn't watch the show live as I was working but I watched some clips on You Tube

A live and let live kind of person I suppose walking a cabbage harms no one and if it floats your boat so to speak, why not?

A big fan of Eurovision as you can probably tell (sorry, Yvonne)we loved the Netherlands entry.

And that second clip is wonderful. Love that kind of music.
