Running from between the 1st of January and the 31st of December, this years categories are ........
1.A book with a topographical feature (land formation) in the title: Black Hills, Purgatory Ridge, Emily of Deep Valley
2.A book with something you'd see in the sky in the title: Moon Called, Seeing Stars, Cloud Atlas
3.A book with a creepy crawly in the title: Little Bee, Spider Bones, The Witches of Worm
4.A book with a type of house in the title: The Glass Castle, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, Ape House
5.A book with something you'd carry in your pocket, purse, or backpack in the title: Sarah's Key, The Scarlet Letter, Devlin Diary
6.A book with a something you'd find on a calendar in the title: Day of the Jackal, Elegy for April, Freaky Friday, Year of Magical Thinking
which got me thinking, only thinking mind, I haven't signed up ..... yet, as to which books I might use given that I'm also going to follow KELLY'S EXAMPLE and only use books that are already on my shelves or are library books or are bought as gifts and so here are my initial thoughts .......
Topographical feature: Valley Of Bones by Michael Gruber.
Something you'd see in the sky: Thirteen Moons by Charlie Frazier.
Creepy crawly: ????????
Type of house: Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.
Carried in your pocket/purse/backpack: Through The Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll.
Calender: Dry Season by Dan Smith OR August Heat by Andrea Camilleri.

Oh, the temptation!
I think I could do this 3 or 4 times over from the books on my self. must not succumb to challenge, must hold firm.... One of my goals is to reaad from the books on my shelf now. What a joy it would be to read some of those books that I fell in love with enough to buy, but still haven't read.
I'd say you have a good list so far and should go ahead and commit to the challenge. :)
My first book of 2012 is one for this challenge. I'm still wavering on what to use for #5.

Well, you certainly challenge yourself book-wise but I think this looks like a fun challenge. It's an interesting twist and I think you'll end up with a few winners.

It is fun to find the books for this challenge isn't it? I should check and see if any of the books on my shelves that I'm committed to reading fit into the categories.
Looks like you have a good list going. Maybe you should just go ahead and join in. Sometimes it's good to give in to a little temptation.
This is one of the challenges I signed up for this year as it's creative, but doable. Hope you decide to go for it, as you've found most of your titles already!
