BABY GAGA BREAST-MILK ICE-CREAM (AND MORE)

Remember my telling you of the ice-cream made from breast milk, and Larry the cat, the latest recruit to Downing Street? Well ......

BABY GAGA BREAST MILK ICE-CREAM HAS BEEN SEIZED  for safety tests.
The dessert, called Baby Gaga, went on sale at ice cream parlour Icecreamists in Covent Garden in February.

But Westminster Council officers removed the product to make sure it was "fit for human consumption". BBC News (01/03/2011)

And the latest on the 'gaga saga'?

Not one to shy away from publicity if the MEAT DRESS INCIDENT is anything to go by, pop singer,

LADY GAGA TAKES ON BABY GAGA who has told the store in Covent Garden, central London to stop selling it's latest brand
Shop owner, Matt O'Conner retaliated with "A global superstar has taken umbrage at what she describes as a 'nausea-inducing' product. This from a woman with a penchant for wearing rotting cows' flesh. At least our customers are still alive when they contribute to our 'art'.
"She claims we have 'ridden the coattails' of her reputation. As someone who has … recycled on an industrial scale the entire back catalogue of pop culture to create her look, music and videos, she might want to reconsider this allegation. (Miaow) - Owen Bowcott, the Guardian (05/03/2011)

And whilst being catty ........

DOWNING STREET DEFENDS LARRY. Downing Street rushed to defend Larry the cat after Number 10's new ratcatcher fell victim to a nasty whispering campaign.
The four-year-old tabby became the latest in a long line of political appointees to suffer the pain of anonymous briefings when insiders complained that he had failed to deliver on a pledge to tackle Whitehall’s vermin problem. - Rosa Prince (28/02/2011)

Yet another two animal articles, this time involving dogs.

A rescue dog overlooked by more than 300 potential owners because of his bad breath could soon find a new home. Tommy, a six-year-old greyhound had severe halitosis because of a gum disease but a daily gargle of a specialist mouthwash has cured the problem. - (01/03/2011)

He only wanted to play!

More of a SINDY fan myself, I guess she hasn't stood the test of time,  unlike Barbie who in her time ......

Has been an astronaut, a ballerina and a surgeon, and now has been reborn again, as an architect.
Mattel's latest addition ti its 'I Can Be' line comes with a blueprint holder - in pink - a hard hat, and high-heeled boots - and is available to buy from Autumn. - (01/03/2011)

And going back to the subject of food (and drink) ......

Tired drivers could be revived by the aroma of coffee being wafted into their cars though technology developed by Renault.
It is one of a number of invigorating smells being developed in co-operation with L'Oreal, the cosmetics company.
"If it makes drivers think they are awake, that is a good thing," said Andrew Howard, the AA (Automobile Association) head of road safety. "But to really tackle fatigue, you do have to drink a cup of coffee." - David Millward (0/03/2011)

Having two family members who both liberally cover everything in tomato sauce (you know who you are) I don't know if I was pleased or dismayed to read the following articles.

Eating cooked and processed tomatoes is healthier than consuming them raw in salads, a study has found.
Tomatoes can help reduce the risk of cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease and do most good when tinned or processed in sauces and ketchups. - (03/03/2011)

Not content with the traditional tomato ketchup?

HEINZ INTRODUCES NEW KETCHUP after deciding its much-loved ketchup could do with a more refined taste - and has added balsamic vinegar to the mix. - Harry Wallop (05/03/2011)

Nothing sweet about this woman.

A woman wrecked a shop because it did not have her favourite flavour cupcake.
Staff and customers ducked for cover as she smashed plate-glass display units and knocked down shelves.
She threw cupcakes at staff and shoppers and then dived behind the counter to grab the shop owner by the hair. The woman, who had two young boys with her, went on the rampage in Cardiff, Wales, after being told the shop had run out of £2.20 sweet tooth fairy cakes which are made of an assortment of flavours topped with candyfloss. - (03/0302011)

Not the worlds most observant parents or just too trusting?

A young health worker built a cannabis farm in his parents' house after they agreed to respect his privacy.
Aaron Hazard, 26, duped his mother and father by creating 'a sophisticated and comprehensive growing regime' in his attic bedroom.
Despite the smell his parents were unaware of the 162 plants at the top of their £350,000 rural barn conversion. - (03/03/201)

......... But it's all for a good cause.

THE MET OFFICE URGES PEOPLE TO BLOW BUBBLES.  The Met Office is urging people to blow bubbles and spot vapour trails as part of a national survey of Britain's climate.
People are being asked to look out for aeroplane trails, or contrails, which may be contributing to climate change and which can only be recorded by the human eye.
Researchers are also urging schoolchildren to blow bubbles to measure wind speed and direction near the ground, to reveal how the built environment affects the wind, as well as watching cloud movement to record wind direction in the sky. - (03/02/2011)

PLEASE NOTE - All of this weeks articles were found in the Telegraph unless stated otherwise.
- I Will always endeavour to bring you the links to articles I have used in my Media Monday posts but this is not always possible.

OMG hilarious. The 'I Can Be' line is just too weird. That Barbie is a very busy lady. I wonder if they are working on barbie as a student, because it looks like Barbie just snaps her little fingers and be who she wants to be. ;) And that Baby Gaga is just disgusting. lol.

Umm...eww? O_O
Poor kitty....people expect so much from the little guys...and really, the dog breath issue? Hello! They make minty dog biscuits ya know (plus of course the gargle solution)....ugh! Though Barbie is a bit oh how shall we say, unrealistic in her "dimensions" for every girl....it is nice that she is portrayed in so many roles; that part sends a good message to youngsters. As for the cupcake woman....um, yeah...I'd say cutting back on sweets might me a good step in her future. Thanks for the laughs, smiles, and OMG moments. ^_^

I LOVED the clip with the police dog!!!! I hope he didn't get into trouble for it. He just wanted to have fun and play ball (and looked so happy in the process)!

I was surprised to see that about the tomatoes vs. ketchup (sauce). Oooo..and I'll have to look for the variety with Balsamic in it. Sounds yummy!!

Petty, you always find the oddest stories to bring to our attention. They are too funny! I'd read about the breast milk ice cream in our newspaper's "The Back Page", which features the strangest news. You've picked out some great news items to highlight today!

Thank you for the amusing articles! I loved the video with the dog, so much more fun than watching regular football!

They passed up the dog just because he had bad breath?! A-maz-ing.

It must be the Heinz company behind the propaganda for canned tomatoes!
Do they need volunteers to blow bubbles ?

I was a Sindy and Pippa dolls girl.

I have heard of teens having things growing in their rooms before....usually mould on the cups and plates that get shoved under their beds!

Wow! Again you have given me more to talk about than should be done in one comment. First off, it cracks me up that Lady Gaga could be grossed out by anything. Anyone who wears a dress made out of meat has really lost the ability to "judge" anyone's choices.

Boy, I had no idea just how busy Barbie has been. And I love the thought of coffee being pumped into my car's air -- I so need that!

Finally, someone should throw a cupcake at that woman. What horrible behavior but especially in front of her children -- ARGH!

I feel so sorry for the bad breath dog! I can't imagine how you get a dog to gargle though. Maybe Barbie can figure it out.

You know, sometimes I feel just like that woman who didn't get her cupcake.
