LEARN TO LOVE: GUIDE TO HEALING YOUR DISAPPOINTING LOVE LIFE.

LEARN TO LOVE: GUIDE TO HEALING YOUR DISAPPOINTING LOVE LIFE by THOMAS JORDAN PH.D.

"In most instances, repetitive love life experience is replicating some kind of past relationship experience. Seeing the connections between your past relationship and what is happening in your present love life empowers you to make the needed changes in your love life. Remember, all f this is learned, so it can be unlearned and something healthier learned or relearned, putting you in control of your love life."

"Becoming conscious of what we've learned unconsciously is a necessary step in getting control over our love lives."
- Back Cover Blurb

What are the two most intense but normal human emotions?
- First Sentence, Introduction: What Is A Love Life?

MY THOUGHTS ... A look into the amount of baggage many of us bring into our relationships, issues of self worth, low self-esteem, the kind of relationship our parents had; the issues that we may not even consciously know are lurking there let alone choose to address.

The product of 30+ years treating those seeking to 'heal' their love lives, of clinical research, of how he, himself, had sought to make changes in his relationships by applying the methods discussed in the book. Learn To Love turned out to be an interesting and, thankfully, unpretentious insight into relationships written by New York City psychologist and psychoanalyst Dr Thomas Jordan. His message?

Your love life belongs to you,"  "your love life can belong to past experiences you’ve had, or even someone else’s …"

His aim?

To offer an understanding of the patterns that can inform our relationships and some of the techniques in which to unlearn the 'unhealthy'  and adopt, new positive ones.

Overall what I thought was an interesting and insightful look at relationships and how we might better them however ...

I can't help but think that delivered as a lecture I would have found this fascinating but, as it is, for me personally, presented in book format, I'm not sure I got everything out of it that I may have otherwise done.

SUMMED UP IN A SENTENCE ... Doubtlessly thought provoking and insightful but alas, presented as it was, it just didn't necessarily work for me.

My thanks to Thomas Jordan, Ph.D. for supplying me with a copy of this.

This may well be full of interesting and useful information, but no.... I don't think it's a book for me. I appreciate your review, though.
