HAVE YOU HEARD THE ONE ABOUT THE SINGING CAULIFLOWER OR THE STRAWBERRY THAT THINKS ITS A CHICKEN?

WARNING: Whilst I endeavour to keep Media Monday family friendly I feel it only right to point out that some of the newspapers featured do have links to articles of a more adult nature. TT

First things first, it is with great sorrow that I bring you this news ...

The joy of popping bubble wrap may be at an end as the creators launch a new more cost-effective which will no longer pop when squeezed.

How did I miss this one?

cauliflower130222.jpgAs a mini-heatwave hits Britain we could hear cauliflowers singing as so-called cauliflower creak sees their florets rubbing together. (I don't know which is the more miraculous, a British heatwave OR singing vegetables. TT)

Two men have come up with a unique way of combating the birthday induced anxiety caused by only remembering to buy a birthday card at the last minute by sending each other the same card for the last forty years.

Best image of the week ....

strawberry that looks like a chicken has been found at a farm near Edinburgh.

And in the news from my home town ...

Having scaled one of Newcastle's most iconic landmarks on Father's Day (21st June) a campaigner from Heaton has written a tongue-in-cheek online review* of the city's Tyne Bridge's 'draughty' accommodation which he praises for its central location and 'spectacular views'.

A man who took a 'large magnet' with him to a popular East Sussex seaside pier in an attempt to pull 10p coins towards him from an arcade machine has been fined the equivalent of 3450 10p pieces.

The bubblewrap story was in our news, too - such a disappointment because I love popping that stuff!

I don't know about singing vegetables, but I've certainly had bags of chips (crisps) call to me from the pantry before. ;)

Now how am I supposed to eat cauliflower when I now know it sings? Okay, so it isn't Disney singing but still... ;)

I'm still upset about the bubblewrap story and really hope that they'll change their minds! What a sad world it will be without bubblewrap!

My husband and one of his co-workers exchanged the same birthday card every year before we moved. Saves having to remember to buy one and get it in the mail! :)

I heard about the passing back and forth of the same card. That's too funny - but very handy.

And what?! No more bubble wrap! I'd be really sad if that happens.

Great stories as always Tracy.

I actually think that the birthday card idea is a great one. I can really see it catching on and becoming a tradition.

Not being able to pop bubble wrap should be a crime. All those future generations who will miss out . . .

I love the idea of sending the same birthday card each year. But what if they forget to send it at all? That's my problem. Birthdays so easily slip by me before I know it even when I have birthday cards handy to send.

Hi Tracy,

I caught the, story about the non-pop bubble wrap, but wasn't sure whether to take it seriously or not ...

The company are proposing to call it 'ibubble' for goodness sake ...

Not only that, they are suggesting that retailers such as Amazon should invest about £3,500 in an air pump, to inflate the flat-packed rolls to the desired size, before shipping ...

REALLY???

I do hope that the idea falls flat on its face and that someone comes along to burst their balloon :)
