CHATTY CAT: THE FIRST SIX MONTHS.

CHATTY CAT: THE FIRST SIX MONTHS by SUZAN COLLINS.

SOURCE: A FaceBook win. Many thanks to Suzan for such a lovely be-ribboned copy.

THE BOOK {According to the back copy}: One woman. One cat.

Two very different ways of thinking.
Photo: With thanks to Suzan Collins and Chatty. X

Meet Chatty and her human (hooman) as they get to know one another. Chatty Cat is a smart but scared cat who has been adopted and is getting used to her new home.

Her hooman thinks she knows exactly Chatty Cat is thinking and what she needs. Chatty Cat however has other ideas and with a mind of her own, her hooman begins to wonder who is actually in charge!

FIRST SENTENCE {Introduction}: Chatty Cat is the story of a rescue cat's first six months of living with her new owner, me!

MEMORABLE MOMENT {Page 122}: She excitedly tells me she's got a new box. I'm not that keen on boxes. I go back to sleep. I've had a hard morning. Why is it that cat owners want us to get excited about cardboard boxes?

MY THOUGHTS:  A purrfect read for anyone who has ever had a cat in their life or indeed anyone considering sharing their lives with a cat.

The tale of one very talkative cat and her hooman. Whilst Jade (Chatty's new hooman, all names have been changed so that they begin with a 'J') occasionally refers to herself as Chatty's owner I'm far from convinced that it isn't the other way around.

Not just a story about what a bit of patience and a lot of love can achieve. Packed with useful information and tips about caring for cats in a fun and easily digested way I thought this an ideal and informative read for younger cat lovers.

Not usually a big fan of animal stories (you know at some point or other they are bound to get hurt) this book is different in that, and I hope I'm not giving anything away here, its certain Chatty Cat gets the happy ever after she is so deserving of.

This sounds delightful and I will most definitely be telling my younger daughter about it.

As you know, I'm a dog person at heart, but I've really grown fond of my grandcats and may have to own(?) one myself someday.

Also, I mentioned in my reply to you on my movie post that I rarely cry in books or movies... well I boo-hooed when I read Marley & Me, so I'm glad to know this book won't be like that!

I try to avoid animal stories for the reason you mention but this sounds lovely and it's reassuring to know the little cat remains unharmed.

This sounds like a fun read and I like that Chatty Cat doesn't die at the end. Oh, how I hate books in which the poor animal dies in the end. It breaks my heart every time. It's the reason I haven't read Marley and Me (although I broke down and bought the book--why, I don't know).

Not all animal books end with the animal getting hurt, but I know what you mean. I always check to see if that is what happens before I pick one up. :) This sounds cute with a great HEA.

I love cats.

My wife does too and I think that she might really like this book. I will recommend this one to her.

Hi Tracy,

Congratulations on your win, always a very satisfying wait for the book to land on the doormat, isn't it?

Whilst definitely not a cat person and not one for true stories, hubbie has been busy when I have been out all day, making friends with the new kitten our neighbours have acquired ... Charlie!

I have to admit that he is a very handsome fellow, black and white, with four lovely white socks ... Well until he showed his immaturity by walking across the top of the fencing, hubbie was busy painting. Apparently no amount of coaxing or shooing would shift the determined little chap, who now sports four rather mahogany coloured paw pads!!

Oh Well! the neighbours have never really been on friendly terms with anyone since they moved in!!

Nice review and featre,

Yvonne
