BAD NEWS AVATAR, SCRATCH AND SNIFF CANNABIS CARDS AND AN EDIBLE HOTEL.

My favourite Media Monday post for a long, long time, I really love these weird and wacky news articles.

Don't want to be the one to break the bad news? Let Zoe do it for you. Developed by Toshiba’s Cambridge Research Lab and Cambridge University’s department of engineering researchers and using the voice of actress Zoë Lister researchers have devised a system which lets users compose messages for Zoë to recite in one of six settings (happy, angry, neutral, sad, tender and, afraid that you’ll need to break the news about being late for dinner) after popping up on the recipients’ phone or computer screen. MORE

All in a good cause. For many of us, getting a tattoo tribute to a beloved girlfriend or boyfriend is something we’d think long and hard about but DJ Mark Davies was happy to have 14 random names inked on his legs – all to raise less than £200 at a pub charity night. MORE

Feeling the long pong arm of the law .......  Issued in a bid to help the public recognise the smell of of powerful 'skunk weed' the police are beginning to hand out scratch and sniff cannabis cards after a recent report suggested cannabis 'farms' are being moved from industrial properties to residential homes.  MORE

Sweet dreams are made of this ....... With visitors encouraged to eat their way through windows and walls clad with 2,000 macaroons, a rug made from 1,081 meringues hand-stitched together, 20kg (44lb) of marshmallow garlands, windowsills built entirely from fudge and a bath filled with caramel-coated popcorn on the 21st of March for one night only the world's first hotel made entirely from cake welcomed guests in Soho, London. MORE

You couldn't make it up ......  A man called Bart Simpson has appeared in a Warwick court before a judge called Mr Burns. MORE

If you don't view any other clip this week please watch this ......  A  spoof advert, a viral ad produced by the Sleepthinker production company based in London, for MinusIQ, a pill that reduces your IQ by 10 and 50 points has been released on YouTube. MORE

Ah, how the other half live! An Upper crust Tory Member of Parliament sets the record straight by admitting that though (he) "did NOT go canvassing in a Bentley with (his) nanny ... it was a Mercedes .. the nanny bit is right. Of course she came canvassing, she’s part of the family after all – she’s been with us for 47 years.” MORE

A dinosaur named Daisy? Daisy Morris, from the Isle of Wight, who was just five years old when she stumbled across a completely new species of flying dinosaur is to have it named Vectidraco daisymorrisae (Vertidraco meaning "dragon from the Isle of Wight") after her after dinosaur experts from Southampton University confirmed it was a new species of pterosaur, about the size of a crow, from about 115 million years ago. MORE

Warning ...... The stuff of nightmares - Not to be read by those suffering with Arachnophobia ..... A giant asbestos-infected tarantula is feared to be on the loose on the streets of Cardiff after a team of asbestos removal experts  found a recently-shed skin in an abandoned 19th century house. Believed to be even more dangerous because of its exposure to asbestos, experts believe the creature could have doubled in size to seven inches,  MORE

This is a fun collection this week, Tracy. Quite varied.

What kid wouldn't love to discover a new dinosaur and have it named after them!?

As much as I love to eat, I'm not sure I'd really want my environment to be edible. Loved the photos in the article, though!

Hi Tracy,

Some great stories again this week Tracy, I don't think I have come across any of them, in my scanning of the daily news!

As we seem to live in one of the cannabis 'hotspots', here in Somerset, I shall be on the lookout for one of the new scratchcards!! I am sure that anyone with a cannabis house will be trying to get their hands on a card, so that they can come up with a neutralising odour of some kind to spray around the place!!

I was intrigued by the edible hotel and at first glance at the amazing pictures, it looked great. Then I stopped and thought about it ... and having had a severe dose of norovirus a couple of weeks ago and thinking of all those hands mauling over the confectionary ... perhaps things don't look quite so attractive!!

Laughed out loud, as always,

Yvonne
