DEADLOCKED.

DEADLOCKED by CHARLAINE HARRIS.

Sookie has a murder investigation on her hands.

A young girl has died at a vampire party - and it looks as though her lover, Eric, might be responsible. Eric swears he didn't do it, the police don't believe him, and even Sookie isn't so sure. Nor is she inclined to take his word for it, not having caught him enjoying the victim's blood minutes before she was killed.

But something strange is going on. Why had Sookie been asked to come to the fateful party a few minutes early - just to catch Eric in the act? And why had the victim spiked her own blood before approaching Eric? Was it simply because she wanted to be irresistible, or was it something more sinister?

Sookie will have to find out .... but its the worst moment to investigate, as her Fae family are having troubles of their own and Sookie is, inevitably, drawn in. And there is one last complication. The cluviel dor her grandmother left her. It will grant her one wish, which could fulfil Sookie's heart's desire. The only problem is, she still doesn't know what - or who - her heart truly desires.
..... Inner front cover.

FIRST SENTENCE (Chapter 1): It was hot as the six shades of Hell even this late in the evening, and I'd had a busy day at work.

MEMORABLE MOMENT (Page 225): I so seldom had to dispose of a human body myself, I was at a loss. Fairies turned to dust, and vampires flaked away. Demons had to be burned. Humans were very troublesome.

MY THOUGHTS: The 12th outing for Sookie Stackhouse in the True blood series and its only thanks to Kelly that I continued reading (you can see her Review HERE) as disappointed with the last few books I was ready to call it a day and part company with the folks of Bon Temps, Louisiana.

Glad that I didn't though as I found this, reputedly the penultimate book in the series, almost back on track.

I say almost as though I did enjoy the book I can't help but think that Sookie and co may well have had their day and the author is right to wrap up what has on the whole been a great series.

With very little of vampire, Eric, less violence than the last few books and, yeah, next to no sex though it could be argued that Deadlocked lacked action, the fact that we saw a return to a sense of humour more than made up for it. My only complaint being I wanted to see more of Bubba. Oh, that and the fact that I really don't like the cover.

A novel that could at a push be read alone, the more I think about it the more I come to think that you really do need to read these books in order of publication to get the most out of them.

KEEP IT OR NOT?: Purchased from The Book People magazine I shall be keeping Deadlocked.

So finally you like one in this series.
A very good review from you once again.

I'm glad you read and enjoyed it, Tracy. Your cover is different from mine and, like you, I don't find it very appealing.

Yes, these certainly need to be read in order and if anyone watches the HBO series (which I don't) they need to keep in mind it strays significantly from the books. Still, those I know who do both seem to enjoy both.

Umm, yeah...still haven't read this series, but I do have most of it somewhere around here...*digs through TBR Mountain* I like the sound of it though, in regards to the humor aspect...that can do a lot for a series especially if it's lengthy. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! I'm so far behind in this series. Not that much Eric? Oh that is sad. I think I'll pick up this series again. I've been wanting to do just that. :)
