CHELSEA WIVES.

CHELSEA WIVES by ANNA-LOU WEATHERLEY.

They are the ultimate ladies who lunch: Imogen, the beautiful ex-model: Calvary, the glamorous, former fashion editor: and Yasmin, the feisty ex-party girl.

Yes, they're immaculately dressed; yes, they are fiercely ambitious; and of course they party hard, but beyond the posh accents, fast cars and extravagant parties, life isn't all champagne and canapes.

Plagued by personal tragedy and united by failing marriages, they masterminded a shocking plan that's set to turn the tables on their husbands and shift the balance of power.

Set against a backdrop of exotic locations, designer boutiques and London's high society scene, these Chelsea Wives are about to untie and risk it all for the ultimate revenge .....
..... Outer back cover.

FIRST SENTENCE (Prologue): Detective Inspector Mitch McLaren glanced around the magnificent library, casually perusing the literature that was neatly stacked inside the antique wooden bookcases.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS (Page 35): 'I ..... well, I've had a lot on my mind ....'
Sebastian drained his cup and snorted derisively.
'Well, yes,' he sneered. 'It must be terribly taxing deciding what to wear for lunch every day'

MY THOUGHTS: Though author of two previous novels (Ibiza Summer and, The Wrong Boy) aimed at a teen market, Chelsea Wives is the first adult novel for this author. An ideal summer read in that its fun and light, I can't however help but think that it would be appreciated more by those in a younger age bracket.

Billed amongst other things as 'the ultimate ladies who lunch' this is one group of women I wouldn't want to lunch with.

With a plot that is at best unbelievable and at worst incredulous and characters that I neither particularly liked nor identified with, anyone would think this was a book I was bound not to enjoy and yet there was something about it that was incomprehensibly satisfying.

An author to watch out for it, I'm interested to see how Anna-Lou matures as a writer of adult fiction.

DISCLAIMER: Read and reviewed on behalf of the publishers Avon, a division of HarperCollins, I was merely asked for my honest opinion, no financial compensation was asked for nor given.

NB The publication date for Chelsea Wives is the 21st of June but it is available for pre-ordering on Amazon now.

I didn't realise this author had previously written for the YA market. Not a name I recognise. I will have to investigate.

This sounds like something I'd enjoy, nice review Petty.

I think your review sums up how I would probably feel about this if I read it. I'm not sure it's one I would intially pick up, though....

At first I thought it was about soccer player wives.

Like always I love the honesty in your reviews. Sounds like an interesting read if all the characters are not so likeable but you still enjoyed reading the book.

Hmm...curious, but it says a lot that even though this wasn't your favorite read, you want to see how her writing matures. Thanks for sharing!

I'd like to read this and her YA. Have you ever read Louise Bagshawe?

I can see how it would be popular with the younger crowd :)

I have indeed read a Louise Bagshawe book, Glamour, as my sister loves her books.

I hate to say it, but I would have not picked this one up because of the title. However, they do seem like interesting characters. I'm not sure if it's for me, but I might have to check out her YA books. :)

I might have a hard time, I need to like or relate to characters to get into books.
