GOOD OLD HP ..........

HP of course being Harry Potter and not the brown sauce much loved by many of us Brits.

Now I can tell you are lost. HP SAUCE (it wasn't until now that I knew HP actually stood for Houses Of Parliament) has been around since the 1930's and is said to compliment sausages beautifully though as a non meat eater I like it on fried eggs.

Hmm, quite a leap from a condiment to a boy wizard but there you have it, that's me all over, my mind does tend to make these strange bounds - just ask Husband dearest. Then again ..... don't.

Where was I? Ah yes, Harry Potter.

The Golden Eagle featured this meme hosted by MICHAEL at In Time, the idea being ....

You have to choose which two characters would be YOUR best mates at Hogwarts. (You can use any student characters from any book. Could it be Luna and Ginny? Or, perhaps Angelina Johnson and Alicia Spinnet? There a dozens of wonderful characters to pick. How about Lavender Brown and Parvarti Patil? Or, maybe you like the Weasleys) AND THEN after you choose your mates write a fun little piece on why and what kind of trio would you be.

Nowhere near as creative I nevertheless didn't want to miss out on the fun and decided to post about which two HP characters I would have as my friends and why.

Moaning Myrtle.

Myrtle, a Muggle-born witch who attended Hogworts she was killed in 1943 and is now a ghost who haunts the second floors girls' bathroom. (READ MORE).

I would really like to be friends with Myrtle as who doesn't like a moan from time to time and I guess she has every right to moan - I mean I don't know about your school toilets but I can still remember (shudders) mine as being a place you only visited if you had to and who would want to spend eternity hanging around such a place? But mostly I'd like to be her friend because I think she could really use a good friend and who knows one of my (awful) jokes might just put a smile on her face.

Luna Lovegood.

A witch, Luna joined Dumbledore's Army in her 4th year. She participated in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and the Battle of the Astronomy Tower as an important member of the team. (READ MORE)

A popular choice amongst bloggers. I'd like to befriend Luna as she is so pale (paler than me even) that I'd look quite healthy standing next to her. Then, of course, she is one of the 'cool' kids which I never was but most of all as her mother died whilst experimenting with spells and Luna was brought up by her father I'd like to think that as well as a friend I could perhaps provide the motherly influence she might be in need of.

What about you? Which two HP characters would you want as your friends and why?

I wish I was Snape's friend, I could have advised him about hair products, ha,ha, and would have found out his true feelings for HP? My other pick is of course, HP!

My first pick will be Hermione! I have always related to her, especially her nerdiness :D My second choice would be Ron Weasley.

Hi, Petty,

Dropping in to read you post on HP. Good reasons for wanting Myrtle and Luna as a friend. I like the fact that you are nice enough to want to help Myrtle and cheer her up.

Nice to meet you, too.

Have a nice weekend.

Michael

HP, great intials, only they were mine ages before Harry, that imposter came along. Though they did belong to that flavourful sauce eons before my time.

Hermione!

Not that I was as clever as her, but I loved reading and learning. I think the other children saw me as a bit of a nerd, and occasionally I could be a bit snarky.

I'm not a Harry Potter person, but I am interested in knowing more about the HP sauce. It look like a bottle of A-1 Steaksauce. Any idea if it tastes anything like any of the American steak sauces?

Not dissimilar although we tend not to use it in preparing meat for cooking. It's usually added to cooked meats in the same manner as ketchup, although some do add a little to soups or stews. The brown is not as sweet as A-1 sauce, being manly vinegar based but the 'fruity' version has a little more sweetnes to it. But it's a long time since A-1 was available here in the UK so it may have developed somewhat from my childhood memory.

See darling, I managed to make a whole contribution to this thread without saying a ything derogatory about Hairy Frotter.

Oh I'd want to be Luna's friend as well. She is just so fun and interesting.

I would go with your choices for two reasons:

1) Excellent post
2) I do not know HP as well as you

I love your HP post! Great choices--I hadn't even thought of Myrtle!

Wonderful post. I had no idea about the sauce, reminds me of the A1 sauce here stateside. Anywho...nice choices on the character friends. Not certain who I'd choose, but you make a good case for both of them. ^_^

I am so surprised by your choices. I would pick Hermione, Ginny and Prof McGonegal all for their practicality.
