This fantastic title from Paul Ian Cross, the writer of How to Vanquish a Virus, takes the reader on a whirlwind tour of everything that’s disgusting, unusual and amazing about the human body. Find out everything about poo, pus and bogies, while learning a whole lot about how our bodies work hard in hundreds of fascinating ways to keep us alive.

With tons of hilarious and informative illustrations, it includes lashings of Paul Ian Cross’s trademark laugh-out-loud humour, in-depth knowledge and infectious optimism. It’s the perfect funny, accessible way to discover everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the human body, but were too grossed-out to ask! ... Synopsis

One of those books that much as I enjoyed it, I'm pretty sure that its intended audience of children aged 8+ are going to enjoy it in all its glorious grossness way more.

From the eye catching cover, to the fun title, to the

bite sized nuggets of information that make for easy reading and understanding, to the accompanying pen and ink illustrations that, informative and yet often gross, capture the imagination, to the use of words like fart {guaranteed to have most 8 year old boys giggling, if this doesn't capture their  attention I don't know what will}, to the 'grossometer', to the chapters on 'tapeworms', and 'poop' {what makes a perfect poop, what its comprised of and the different shapes etc}, and 'reproduction' which covers information about bodily changes during puberty, the sexual organs and sexual intercourse {all done in what I thought of as age appropriate for children as young as 8} everything about Bodies, Brains & Bogies is designed to appeal to children and make the learning about the human body fun ... something that it most certainly succeeds in.

Definitely a book all ages can appreciate, but hearing it towards kiddos will certainly help answer some of their questions!

I think this sounds like a fun and clever book for discussing things that might be awkward to talk about otherwise.

Felicity,
This sounds like a very informative and
fun book for all ages. Which could also
prompt interesting discussions.

I know a 6-year-old who would be over the moon were this book to appear in his upcoming 7th birthday packages.

He is already into his David Walliams books and much to his father's surprise, already asked those man-to-man questions about reproduction, when they were in the car on their own together. I think dad even felt the need to park up, so that he could consider his responses more carefully!

This sounds a bit like an updated, more fun-filled version of 'The Body Book', which was around a few years ago and much frowned upon in certain quarters of society. We gave a copy to one of our goddaughters and she went on to become a consultant surgeon in A&E

Thanks for sharing :)

This sounds like a great book for parents to read with their children to introduce all these concepts.
