CATS IN THE NEWS.

CATS IN THE NEWS by MARTYN LEWIS.

News presenter turns mews presenter ...

In this delightful collection of cat chronicles from all over the world, Martyn Lewis, newscaster and cat-lover, hits the headlines with stories of amazing escapes, fantastic journeys, peculiar talents and outrageous behaviour as performed by our feline friends.

In these pages, we meet ship's cats, stowaway cats, pampered cats, pedigree cats and cats who pushed the 'nine lives' test to the limit. Amongst many of the heart-warming stories of heroism and derring-do is the tale of the cat who survived a whole month trapped under floorboards, the cat who trekked two thousand miles to find its mother, the Greta Garbo of the cat world, the rather optimistic moggie who tried to catch an eagle, and the fortunate feline who inherited seven million dollars from his owner.
...... Outer back cover. May contain spoilers as to individual stories. Hi-light if you so wish.

FIRST SENTENCE (Introduction): If you love cats, you will almost certainly have - or have had - one which dominated your life.

MEMORABLE MOMENT (Page 8): The silver tips on their hairs create the charming impression of a cat which has played in a tubful of stardust

MY THOUGHTS: British newscaster and cat lover Martyn Lewis has done a great job in putting together so many wonderful cat stories from all over the globe in this amusing and heart warming book.

With original photographs, illustrations and cartoons and chapter headings ranging from 'Curious Cats' to 'What's New Pussycat?' by way of 'Monster Moggies', 'Ships' Cats' and many more there really is a story here for everyone.

Purrfect (sorry, I couldn't resist the pun) reading for all those feline-obsessed people out there, I for one am hoping that there will be a Cats in The news part 2 at some point in time.

KEEP IT OR NOT?: On loan, thank you Tricia. Whilst I probably wouldn't buy this new I'll be sure to keep an eye out for a second hand copy or there is always Christmas/my birthday.

And thanks to Tricia who is proudly owned by several cats I can also recommend these  .......

Hi Tracy,

Not a book for me I'm afraid, I suffer from Ailurophobia (a persistent and irrational fear of cats).

I did however love to watch Martyn Lewis way back, when he presented the local HTV news. He was always so personable and a bit like the 'boy next door' in his unassuming presentation style.

I do know someone who would love this book however, so I shall be sure to pass on the details.

Have a good weekend.
