One month to pretend... or one month to fall in love?

How do I turn down an overly keen colleague I have zero interest in dating? Should I:

1. Stammer and bluster my way through every excuse in the book

2. Accept and then immediately turn in my resignation letter, change my number and leave the country

3. Allow my hot, new, doctor neighbour to step in and pretend to be my boyfriend

The answer: there are no right answers.

But option 3 is happening and I’m fake dating Lucas just to survive my work Christmas party without any further unwanted advances.

That I didn't necessarily connect with either of the main characters {and especially not with the 'fake date', dishy American doctor, Lucas whose Americanisms, well, to my mind just didn't come off as American}, in the tradition of pantomime I hurrahed the characters there to be liked and booed those there not to be liked ... with the exception of my favourite character, the interfering, nosy neighbour Mrs Kelsey who, {in a nod to the novel's 4 legged character, Fred} seemingly with a bark worse than the dog's, is one of those characters who 'grows on you' as you get to know her.

All in all, pretty much what I have come to expect of this genre; Only For Christmas proved to be a light hearted, one might say fluffy, festive rom com that is just what the doctor {American or otherwise} ordered for those cold, wintry months.

As well as writing novels, Tracy’s written several short stories, pantomime sketches and magazine articles. Tracy describes her writing style as modern tales of romance, with engaging quirky characters, who overcome adversity, grow as people and conclude in satisfying optimistic endings. When she’s not writing, she enjoys amateur dramatics, gardening and sewing. She works part-time for a local charity.

You're right... this type of book can be perfect for the cold, busy winter months. But since I'm not looking for more romance and already have a couple of Christmas stories on my TBR, I'll pass on this one.

Sounds like a light-hearted romance. I don't know if you're familiar with the Hallmark Channel on TV, but this sounds like one of those stories.

I like to listen to books with a Christmas theme during December

Sometimes I am just in the mood for this kind of fluffy read. I will have to check it out.

Felicity,
I, too agree with the others. This sounds
like a light-hearted story. And what you
said in your review about the main characters
did not appeal to me.

I do like a good holiday read, but some are definitely better than others. :)

Sounds like a good book to read on a cold and snowy day. Thanks for sharing. The nosy neighbor sounds intriguing. :)
