HARRY AND HICCUP PLAY HIDE-AND-SEEK.

 Its always a pleasure and delight when, having been trusted with one of their babies, an author gets in touch in order for you to share their thoughts on another of their books. Such was the case with the author of Oliver Doliver's Dinosaur Comes To Stay who very kindly sent me a copy of his latest book ...

HARRY AND HICCUP PLAY HIDE-AND-SEEK written and illustrated by PAPA PERKINS.

GENRE ... Children's picture book.

AGE RANGE ... Aimed at the 2-5 age range for parents, grand-parents, aunts, uncles and elder siblings to read with younger children and to discuss the vocabulary together.

SERIES ... The Alpha Beta Bears. Hopefully, the first of the 26 titles in a series.

NUMBER OF PAGES ... 38.

PUBLISHER ... Austin Macauley.

Harry (actually the Honourable Harry) of Hobberdy Hall joins forces with his teddy bear friend, Hiccup. Harry decides they will play a game of hide-and-seek, which has hilarious results.

This is a book for ‘grown-ups’ to share with their children. Featuring traditionally illustrated teddy bears and introducing a wide, alphabet-based vocabulary.

On every picture page, there is something to find beginning with the letter ‘H’. {Back Cover Blurb}

Here is the Honourable Harry who lives in Hobberdy Hall. {First sentence, Page 10}

Hiccup hurried away and hauled himself up the high staircase.

It's hard for little bears to climb big steps. He spotted a hat-stand on the landing.

'Hah, now I can hide again.' He felt happy this time; nothing could go wrong. {Memorable Moment, Page 22}

MY THOUGHTS ... Name one of, if not THE, most timeless, the most classic, the most beloved things of children {and indeed adults} the world over.

HMM! I wonder how many of you said the 🧸.

A delightful book with oh such sweet illustrations all about the Honourable Harry of Hobberdy Hall, it goes without saying Harry And Hiccup (a fellow teddy bear) Play Hide-And-Seek is way up there as one of my favourite reads of 2021 ... and not just for the little ones either, this is definitely a story for anyone who has ever loved a teddy bear.

The first in a planned series of 26 books featuring the letters 'A' to 'Z' by way of teddy bears each of them named after a letter of the alphabet {the author acknowledges that he 'should have begun with 'A' but he is nothing but impulsive and Harry had grabbed his attention'}. Harry and Hiccup is not just a charming read that makes for great bedtime/story circle reading but, with something {often several things} on each page beginning with {in this incidence} the letter 'H', its also written in such a way as to make learning the alphabet fun.

Definitely books to look out for, I'm so looking forward to seeing the escapades of the other Alpha Beta Bears including Algernon' who is to be found Abseiling down a rope from a wooden brick Archthe rope being fixed to an Anchor.

MEET THE AUTHOR.

MEET MORE OF THE ALPHA BETA BEARS.

Just what is it about a teddy bear that is so endearing. And yes, to adults as well as children!

This sounds like the beginning of a quite clever series!

Felicity,
This sounds like a delightful
and charming book. And I love
the lovely cover. As well as
that I have a soft spot for
teddy bears.

What a delightful sounding book, so beautifully illustrated, and such a lovely review!

Then of course, I made the mistake of clicking on the link you left to the author site and I just couldn't leave until had checked out every one of the wonderful pages full of artwork and illustrations.

The author and artist is really so very talented, I am so jealous!

I know just the little girl for one of these books, thank for sharing :)

Aw, this sounds so cute! I love that there will be a book for every letter of the alphabet, and it's kind of cute that the author started with H and not A. Sometimes those characters just speak to you!
