WHAT BETTER WAY TO BEGIN DECEMBER THAN BY ANNOUNCING THE 2018 CHRISTMAS SPIRIT READING CHALLENGE ....

Having become disillusioned by my past choices, of 'Christmas' books that as it turns out weren't very Christmassy I haven't participated in this challenge for a year or two. However feeling inspired to do so this year, though a little bit late (the challenge began 19th of November), I headed over to Michelle's Christmas Spirit blog to find details of/sign up for this year's challenge.

    grab button for Christmas Spirit
  • The challenge will run from Monday, November 19, 2018 through Sunday, January 6, 2019 (Twelfth Night or Epiphany).
  • Cross over with other challenges is totally permitted AND encouraged!
  • These must be Christmas novels, books about Christmas lore, a book of Christmas short stories or poems, books about Christmas crafts.
Levels:
--Candy Cane: read 1 book
--Mistletoe: read 2-4 books
--Christmas Tree: read 5 or 6 books (this is the fanatic level...LOL!)

Additional levels (These are optional, you still must complete one of the main reading levels as above):
--Fa La La La Films: watch a bunch or a few Christmas movies...it's up to you!
--Visions of Sugar Plums: read books with your children this season and share what you read.

So! What COULD I be reading these holidays?

Well, whilst there's no guarantee I'll read all of them (in no particular order) there's  ...

Be sure to come back for my review of this on 5th December
Murder On Christmas Eve: Classic Mysteries for the Festive Season (Murder at Christmas Book 2)

Angels at Christmas: Those Christmas Angels / Where Angels GoA Christmas Candle

A Winter FlameA Perfect ChristmasIt Must Have Been the Mistletoe

Hmm! Let's see, that's 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 4 ... 5 ... 6 ... 7 ... 8 ... 9 books plus ...

Paddington and the Christmas Surprise

which, if I were to read all of them, takes me to Christmas Tree Level +  Visions of Sugar Plums.

Wish me luck.

    I've noticed this too Tracy.

So many *Christmas* reads don't really have anything to do with Christmas :-(

It looks like a fun selection (Paddington Bear!!) and I hope the ones you do read are very Christmassy! I'm familiar with Debbie Macomber (she contributes to an annual devotional guide I've read for decades), but never read any of her novels. I'm not sure I recognize any of the other authors.

Is Murder on Christmas Eve a short story collection? I think I see Ellis Peters' name on the cover. I loved her Brother Cadfael series. I hope you read this one then tell us more about it.

    Good luck!

    Go get 'em, Tracy!

You've got a nice stack there and I'll have to check some of them out for myself particularly Murder on Christmas Eve. :)

Tracy, this cheery reading challenge sounds like a great way to get into the Christmas spirit! Thank you for sharing possible choices for this challenge. I have a few Christmassy books atop my TBR stacks, and I saw a cute movie, The Christmas Calendar, recently (mainly to see singer/actress Frazey Ford). The holiday season is HERE!
