THE FOX FOREST BAND.

THE FOX FOREST BAND by LISA E. LINDMAN (With illustrations by Chandra Wheeler.)

BACK COVER BLURB: How do you fight an evil wizard when your only weapon is your smarts?

A happy group of forest animals are stopped cold by a wizard's enchanted fog that whispers their greatest fears. The animals think they have to run away but a brave fox gives them a better idea. He shows them how to stand up for themselves and how to handle the problem at its source.

Join the fox and his friends as they figure out how to defeat a bully wizard - and have fun in the process.

FIRST SENTENCE: Once upon a time there was a wood.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: We can beat the wizard and take a stand by forming our very own fox forest band.

SOURCE: My thanks to the author for sending me a copy to review.

MY THOUGHTS: Wow! Not just a fox but (my favourite) a hedgehog, a mouse, a big brown bear AND a multitude of other woodland creatures. And that's not to mention an evil wizard, 'his heart ice cold', his weapon an enchanted fog.

Told in rhyme, this is a wonderful story at the heart of which is a message all about the power of friendship, of working as a team to overcome a bully.

And oh my goodness! Those illustrations. Beautifully done in water colours. Even if too young to fully understand the sentiments behind the story I'm confident that these will be loved by all but the very youngest of children.

Normally the kind of book I'd pass onto my great-nephews (almost five and just turned two) but I'll have to buy another copy as this is a perfect edition for my collection of books featuring hedgehogs.

My great nephew is only three weeks old, however you can never be too young to start a bookcase (although I think we may have to buy the bookcase first :) ). I shall always be on the lookout for bright and colourful bedtime stories and this one sounds great!

Thanks for sharing - Well, perhaps not if you plan on keeping this one all for youself :)

The theme of this one sounds great.

It is interesting that in adult form the plot of this book is a familiar one to those of us who watch and read science fiction.

The cover looks great and I expect the watercolour art within the book to make a young reader very happy & excited to read it. There's something about the cover that just releases happiness ~ maybe it's the colours, maybe it's the fox.
