A MEDIA MONDAY 'ROMANCE' SPECIAL.

WARNING: Whilst I endeavour to keep Media Monday family friendly I feel it only right to point out that some of the newspapers featured do have links to articles of a more adult nature. TT

After a stay in a Scarborough aquarium when her usual home in a Norfolk sanctuary was flooded last year staff found themselves asking 'Who's the daddy?' after a seal was left pregnant following a 'holiday romance'.

Having had his leg amputated in 2006 after falling off a mountain while volunteering at an orphanage in India a man from Guernsey has revealed how he had part of the bone made into an engagement ring.

Wanting something different a fifty-eight year old bride from Stoke-on-Trent turned up to her wedding ... in a coffin.

Having met in 1988 a British man became the oldest ever groom when he tied the knot with his 93 year old bride on Saturday, his 103 birthday.

'I wish any lady who takes this dress to have a life with her loved one, 56 years like I did, happy years. I was a lucky man to marry a lady like mine ...'
A man who left a hand written good luck note when he gave his late wife's 1950's wedding dress to a Garforth charity shop has been found after a world wide search but wishes to remain anonymous.

And in the news from France ....

Having been inspired by her grieving mother who slept with her departed husbands pillowcase a French woman came up with the novel idea of bottling the deceased unique scent as a perfume

Not sure what's more disturbing the coffin bride arrival or the bone ring... *-*

Oh no, someone really showed up in a coffin?

I love the story about the man who attached the note to the wedding dress he donated to charity. :-)

Coming to your wedding in a coffin . . . That is different, I'll give it that.

Amazingly brilliant and wacky links here! Love the one about the engagement ring. Tasha

I'm not really sure what I expected, but the ring didn't look anything like what I thought it would.

Odd, maybe...but a very interesting assortment of stories. And what a sweet-looking baby seal.

Wow. I don't think I'd want to wear an engagement ring made from the bone of my fiancé's amputated limb!

That bone ring disturbs me but yet, what could be more personal? LOL

Bottling the smell of a loved one does seem a little extreme and weird I have to say. :D

I LOVED all of these stories, but my favorite is about the "oldest ever groom" and the 93 year old bride--that is heartwarming!

Great anecdotes this week Tracy.

Though it is very tempting to really go to town with jokes about the wedding - coffin story, I will refrain from doing so :)

Wow, showing up in a coffin to your wedding. That doesn't exactly bode well for the future of the marriage does it? Or maybe it really DOES mean "til death do us part."

Hi Tracy,

They say that people do the strangest things and I think that your assortment of quirky events this week, proves just that.

I am of the opinion though, that people's ideas of doing soemthing 'unique', are becoming more and more bizarre, in their efforts to be different, or are they simply meant to shock?

Working as I do, in a charity shop, I can personally vouch for some of the strange and quirky items which customers donate and the many ways in which they want to let you know the story behind certain items.

Therefore, the wedding dress story has to be my favourite this week, although I'm not so sure that the charity should have tracked down the donor with quite so much publicity.

Thanks for sharing :)
