OF POTATOES, NUTS AND TOAST

WARNING: Whilst I endeavour to keep Media Monday family friendly I feel it only right to point out that some of the newspapers featured do have links to articles of a more adult nature. TT

An unlucky customer from Brandon, Suffolk, opened a packet of crisps and tipped the bag upside-down only for a full uncooked potato but no crisps to fall out.

The residents of the unfortunately named  Butthole Lane (named after the targets used in archery), Loughborough, say they don't want the name of changed .... even if it does make them the butt of jokes.

A toy 100 euro note, used to buy a sandwich in Co. Down, is being treated as counterfeit currency by police in Northern Ireland.

Mechanics trying to find out why a car couldn't go above 40mph were surprised to find the engine was filled with nuts, stashed there by a squirrel.

Whoops! ...

An artist from West Sussex who creates sculptures which can fit inside the eye of a needle watched in horror as 'one of the smallest sculptures ever created' was accidentally crushed by a photographer's finger.

And talking of sculptures ...

A 38-year-old artist from Carlisle painstakingly scraped and carved 160  pieces of toast to create a seven foot tall picture of the Madonna and Child.

Oh wow, never thought about squirrel storing nuts in places like that

That miniature artwork is amazing! The "toast Madonna" is pretty incredible, too.

I laughed about the potato. You would think it would have felt heavier, tipping him off something wasn't right.

We've had trouble with squirrels and mice building nests/storing acorns in our outside equipment. The dogs are supposed to keep watch and prevent that. ;)

Butthole Lane is hilarious I’m sure I would have assumed the sign was a joke had I seen it! I had no idea archery targets were called that, but it makes it even funnier when you think about it.

I feel for the photographer whose finger ended up in the frame. :-)

Lovely selection as always.

My goodness! I'm not sure which is the MOST astonishing of today's batch...though I'm fairly certain the squirrel is mad about his removed stash.

You've got quite a variety here! How will I choose a favorite this week?! Each MM story is funny and bizarre in its own way.

I don't want to let the potato, I mean cat, out of the bag but (I mean butt), the euro is shrinking while the art world is going nuts, and you never know what's in your engine now, do you?

My immediate reaction to both the Madonna artwork created from toast and the miniature statue is ... why?

Do you think they must just wake up one morning and say "I know what I' going to do, I'm create a sculpture so small that it will fit in the eye of a needle!"

I would not be surprised at my squirrel doing that. Will have to check under the hood.

Oh my goodness! Can you imagine getting a whole potato instead of chips? Haha

The people of Butthole Lane all must have a fairly good sense of humor, I imagine, to be willing to keep that name!

Butthole Lane- too funny!

I also can't imagine a whole potato coming out of a bag of chips- it must have been a heavy bag!

Squirrels and other little critters are know to occasionally do damage to cars.

there are much worse things then a raw potato that one can find in a potato chips bag.
