FIRST LINES OF 2014 WRAP-UP.

First seen at Suko's Notebook in if memory serves me right 2012 I'm proud to be once again sharing my First Lines of the year.

JANUARY: Christmas at Carrington's ..The ninth book read for this years Christmas Spirit Reading Challenge.

FEBRUARY: With a flatulent cow here and a dog allergic to grass there ..

Using her free bus-pass to travel into town and swipe goods a 76 year old great-grandmother from Crewe, Cheshire, went on a four-year shoplifting spree because she was “bored” of being old.

MARCH: THE Shipping News ..

Quoyle is a hapless, hopeless hack journalist living and working in New York.

APRIL: Media Monday: April Fool's Day special ..

Actually celebrated since Roman times there is nothing new about the April Fool's Day hoax as this 1860 invitation sent to the people of London proves.

MAY: The Night Circus ..
The circus arrives without warning.

JUNE: From cheese and chicken To The undead ..

Having had a hiatus last year when, after warnings from the police, a foam cheese was used instead of the usual round of cheese this years annual Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling Competition went ahead as usual on Monday (26th of May).

JULY: Tall, Dark and Dead ..

The line between magic and sanity is very thin.

AUGUST: 6 Degrees Of Separation: Gone Girl ..

They say every person on the planet is linked to any other in six or fewer steps BUT what about books?

SEPTEMBER: From Hogworts To Cambridge ..

An Internet prankster has posted a letter of rejection from Hogworts University.

OCTOBER: Book Tour: Created, The Destroyer..

Sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit, ex-cop Remo Williams is rescued from the electric chair at the eleventh hour and recruited by a secret government organisation named CURE.

NOVEMBER: 6 Degrees Of Separation #7: We Are All Completely By Ourselves..

'They say every person on the planet can be linked to any other in six or fewer steps BUT what about books?

DECEMBER: There and back again: J.R.R. Tolkien and the origins of the Hobbit ..
'Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.'

This is always fun. Hard to believe we're already to the point of looking back for this year.

Six Degrees of Separation is an interesting concept. I wonder if it's true.

Tracy, I have done this wonderful meme for a few years now, and plan to do it later this month. It was created by and is hosted each year by Melanie from The Indextrious Reader. Your "first lines" are terrific, and I like how you added the post titles. Well done! :)

I really like the one about the old lady who's bored of being old and goes on a crime-spree, and the first line of The Night Circus. (How chilling was that?)
