THE BRIDE WORE SIZE 12.

THE BRIDE WORE SIZE 12 by MEG CABOT

SOURCE: Received for review from Turnaround (Publisher Services).

Heather Wells is used to having her cake and eating it too, but this time her cake just might be cooked. Her wedding cake, that is.

With her upcoming nuptials to PI Cooper Cartwright only weeks away, Heather's already stressed. And when a pretty junior turns up dead, Heather's sure things can't get worse—until every student in the dorm where she works is a possible suspect, and Heather's long-lost mother shows up.

Heather has no time for a tearful mother and bride reunion. She has a wedding to pull off and a murder to solve. Instead of wedding bells, she might be hearing wedding bullets, but she's determined to bring the bad guys to justice if it's the last thing she does . . . and this time, it just might be.
...... Outer back cover.

FIRST SENTENCE (Chapter 1): Everything's going to work out.

MEMORABLE MOMENT (Page 355): Kaileigh Harris is frozen in place at the bagel bar, a newly toasted English muffin in one hand (I got the last bagel) and a butter knife in the other, staring wide-eyed at ######* as he lurches towards her.

MY THOUGHTS: What I believe to be the fifth (and rumour has it last) book in the Heather Wells Mysteries series. Whilst this read perfectly well as a stand-alone novel I feel I could have benefited from reading the previous book (if not books) in the series.

A novel about ex-child pop sensation Heather Wells who, whilst working at THE hall of residence at New York College (the place to be after the arrival of His Highness Crown Prince Rashid Ashraf bin Zayed Faisal), inadvertently becomes something of a reluctant heroine.

Quirky and something that little bit different, a perfect read for anyone who is looking for a fun, 'cosy' mystery with a chick-lit feel to it. Whilst I did enjoy The Bride Wore Size 12 for me it was missing something that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

* I've omitted the name for fear of a spoiler.

You know me...I have to read series books in the correct order. (or at least I try to) This sounds like it might be fun, but not enough to take on the whole series.

Hi Tracy,

This isn't either a book or a series which would particularly interest me, I'm afraid, although I am intrigued to know the context of the book's title, as it seems to bear no relation to the synopsis, or any of your featured lines, at all. The cover is also quite intriguing and alluring, it would be interesting to know how it all hangs together, but not enough so to actually read the book.

Thanks for another totally honest review,

Yvonne

I have yet to read any of Meg's adult novels, but I do want too! This series sounds fun.

Hi Tracy, the title makes me want to read it, but I do prefer to read all the books in a series in order and I'm not sure I have the time. But I very much enjoyed your review.

This does sound like a fun "cozy". Brilliant review, Tracy!

I do like cozies and chick lit. Sometimes there is just a good time for them. Might have to pick this one up despite that lack of something. Might be a good light read.

Enjoyed your review! I haven't read this series, but it does sound like a fun read! I'm really hesitant about reading a book in the middle of a series,as most authors can't give you enough of a background so that you don't feel like you're missing something.

I didn't know this was a mystery series! I haven't read anything by this author, but I know she's quite popular. I will have to look into this series. Thanks!
