FROM THE ALMOST TASTEFUL.

First there was the Queen's Jubilee  tat souvenirs, quickly followed by Royal Wedding memorabilia and now with the official due date of July 13th only a matter of weeks away we have ......

Royal Baby keepsakes.

So many items to be had but, amongst all the usual tea towels and collectors plates, here are just a few of the other collectables that caught my eye.

OK, so they are in a commemorative tin and these limited edition, homemade biscuits do look rather yummy but £40 for sixteen of them? I don't think so.

But what of THE 'Official' souvenirs as produced by no less than the Royal Collection Trust as chaired by Prince Charles himself? Well, that won't be released until the actual birth of his/her royal sprogness (a sprog for those of you who don't know being a baby) but in the meantime there are always these sleepsuits available at Buckingham Palace.

Now this is much more like it. From the fairly tasteful to the, well, not as tasteful .....

Kind of cute but still high up on my most tat list we have the £25.00 iPhone cover.

No doubt quite expensive (there are no details available as yet) and yet in my opinion totally ugly we have the Wade Royal Baby Whimsie as shown HERE

Putting the dubious grammar  on this plaque aside, of all the plates and plaques available it has to be said that this the 'Commemorating the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge Royal Birth' plaque (£49.99) is the one that stood out as being amongst the most, err, interesting given that the baby(?) between the royal couple looks to be what I can only describe as some kind of alien growth.

And so onto that all too familiar commemorative keepsake that no serious collector should be without .... The 'Royal Morning Sickness' sick bag.

Which just leaves me to thank some of my FaceBook friends who have been supplying some of their favourite royal baby goodies.

OR .....

Better still, how about following the example of the Finnish government who, in a box of gifts given to the royal couple to celebrate the impending birth of their first child, sent a box of ....... condoms. FULL STORY

"some kind of alien growth" lol. I agree that looks totally weird and not right!

I'm sure there are even more things out there to commemorate the birth. The pacifier with the Union Jack is rather nifty. And I had to LOL at the Finnish government's gift.

I had to laugh at the gift of condoms. That's too funny. I know the world will celebrate when the baby is born. I hope the press will give them some quiet family time to bond.

Even before I saw your comment, I thought something looked rather "off" in that image on the plaque.

I do like the little sleepsuits (footie pajamas or creepers, as I would call them) and the pacifier with the Union Jack.

OMG. what they won't think of next. I do like the sleepsuits though but totally agree on the "Whimsie"; who designed that?!?

Great post as always. ^-^

Right now I'm glad we don't have royalty. Poor kid already! In a way I see the fun, but let the girl give birth first!
