TRICK OR TREAT.

Roses that glow in the dark?
Perfect for Halloween, available from the 22nd to the 31st of October and costing between £49.99 to £74.99, a flower company has launched the UK's first ever bouquet which glows in the dark.
The extraordinary creation, named Avalanche, looks like a normal bunch of cream roses in the daylight, but produce an eerie green haze when the lights are dimmed after being left to absorb natural or electric light. More

It's enough to put you off cake for life .....
Doctors from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary, University of London are hosting an anatomy-themed baking festival, the Eat your Heart Out Exhibition 2012, in which doctors hope the treats will educate people about anatomy and disease whilst creating an interest in the topics of anatomy and pathology by for example raising awareness of the need for blood donations, educating visitors about transplants and ensuring people understand the dangers of alcohol abuse and smoking.
The non-profit sale between October 26 and 28 is set to include cupcakes topped with simulated infected eyeballs, varicose veins, blood cells and cold sores all washed down with a 'urine sample' drink.
The edible, if unappetising, Halloween treats are the result of an unusual collaboration between bakers, drink mixers and medical experts. More

And as if this wasn't enough, how about these?
A baker in Leeds has whipped up some edible art in the form of cake pops - the new craze in baked goods - using things that go bump in the night for her inspiration, creative baker  ‘Miss Insomnia Tulip’ has made these delicious mouthfuls of cake-on-a-stick featuring horror movie characters.  More

Spooky! The man with more than a few skeletons in his closet .....
Father of three, Alan Dudley's unassuming semi-detached house is home to a fascinating haul of 2,000 taxidermy skulls and animals.
Kept in two converted rooms, glass cabinets proudly display Mr Dudley's morbid menagerie of beasts of all shapes and sizes, ranging from tiny rat and guinea pig skulls to more exotic creatures such as hippos, giraffes and crocodiles. More

Perfect for 'apple bobbing' .....
Core blimey - the apple that looks like a toothless old woman (I'm thinking of the witch in Hansel and Gretel, PW). This is just one of the fun pictures on a website dedicated to objects that look just like faces. More

Ouch! Brit becomes first patient to have so-called 'vampire' face-lift.
Amie Mee, 42, became the first person to vamp up her looks with a £750 laser based face-lift carried out by Scottish surgeon Taimur Shoaib.
Dubbed the 'vampire face-lift' the cosmetic procedure draws blood from the patients arm and puts it through a machine that extracts the plasma which using a laser to create thousands of tiny holes all over the face is then pushed into the skin using an ultrasound probe. More

A bit gruesome but I suppose it is a somewhat fitting tribute ......
Ten leading crime writers are competing for the honour of having a new morgue at Dundee University named after them.
Crime fiction fans can vote for their favourite author online - with each vote contributing £1 to the appeal which aims to raise another £1 million.
Authors taking part in the "Million for a Morgue" campaign are: Tess Gerritsen, Kathy Reichs, Lee Child, Harlan Coben, Mark Billingham, Jeffrey Deaver, Jeff Lindsay, Stuart MacBride, Peter James and Val McDermid. More

And finally ...... who said Halloween was just for us humans?
A group of light-hearted lemurs gave visitors to an animal sanctuary in Milton Keynes a fright after they dressed up in spooky Halloween masks.
The ring-tailed lemurs had fun running around  donning ghoulish Frankenstein, werewolf and vampire masks.
As well as scaring visitors, park spokeswoman Abi Crowley said the primates got into the spirit of Halloween season by spooking each other and dining on pumpkin. More

While meanwhile .....
Gran, Vicky Freeman (54) who hung a scary skull mask in her garden in time for 'trick or treat' on October 31st was surprised that this cheeky squirrel beat them to it. More

PS Just to apologise that I may not be around as much for the next few days - Husband dearest was admitted to hospital early this morning. Nothing too serious we hope, at the moment it looks like a flare up of an existing condition.

Fun post as always...those cake-on-a-stick are fun, yet gross.

I think those cake pops look fun- but not the medical cakes. Yuk! I think the glow in the dark roses are pretty cool- perfect for the season!

Such festive articles.

A different sort of Monday post, just for Halloween! That cake is pretty scary (it's covered from my view now by the comment box). The cake pops would be great fun to have at parties or to give out as treats on Halloween.

I hope your husband is/will be okay, Petty.

I hope everything with your husband is ok!

Those roses are really pretty but that cupcake and "urine sample" beverage were quite disturbing. I don't care if they are edible or not... no way am I eating/drinking that!

Hope your husband is doing well and home soon. Never fun to be in the hospital.

And I love those glow in the dark roses. And you're right … if all cakes looked like that one, I would never eat it again. That is disgusting!!!
