WANTED ....... YOUR WORDS.

Hoping to make the way the English language is recorded more democratic publishers Collins are appealing for individuals to suggest new words for a mainstream dictionary.

Yes, anyone who uses English can submit words for potential inclusion at WWW.COLLINSDICTIONARY.COM where you can win daily prizes

AND .......

If the word is accepted, you, as the submitter, will be offered the chance to be permanently credited in the online dictionary below the words definition.

So, what word(s) would you submit?

Some of those already submitted include ..

superphone
legbomb
reem
cray
tash-on
yolo

sweatworking
Tebowing

omnishambles
creeping
mantyhose
cyberstalking
tweeps
twitlit
Super PAC
Supercommittee
insourcing
occupy
livestream
carmageddon
trendfear
generation Rent
Eurogeddon
Dollargeddon
champagne bottleneck
gazanging
photobombing
lollage
amazeballs

My choice?

Narf. It's not often that I revert to using slang words but when I get very excited about something I have been known to exclaim that it was narf good meaning it was really good.

Oops! Too late, it would seem that as well as standing for Native American Rights Foundation, a narf is a rare type of nymph/water faerie in M. Night Shyamalan's film Lady in The Water AND, according to the UnWords.com means ....
  1. The uncontrollable sound an idiot might make (Origin: Unknown)
  2. An exclamation emitted when one's brain farts and sound deploys (Origin:  An infamous expression used by the unintelligent sidekick of "The Brain", Pinky, as seen in the popular cartoon spin-off from Amblin Entertainment's "Animaniacs")
And finally, the criteria for inclusion?

Frequency of use, number of sources and staying power. Evidence will be based on the publisher’s 4.5 billion-word database of language called the Collins Corpus, which takes words from a wide range of spoken and written English sources, including newspapers, radio and social media.

How fun! I know that they accept a certain number of new words to add to the dictionary each year. The word has to be used by a certain amount of people to be accepted. I have always thought it was fun- now I just need to come up with a word. :)

I am not feeling very creative this morning. But, hmmm...there's got to be a new word to describe that, like createlow or createno or brainlow (see what I mean?).

We have already contributed too many words in to the dictionary..so called Hinglish words.

Mmm...What about "Konapplication", we use this word in the local language when someone makes a mess of what he is doing.

oh, this is really intersting! Thanks for letting us know about it. I don't think i have a word that I'd suggest...I tend to use the most obvious slang, so nothing too exciting.
