With EL James' Fifty Shades Of Grey trilogy proving so popular publisher Total E-Bound have decided to give a wide range of classics a sexy makeover.
Not a huge fan of the classics myself BUT from what I have read there is already a certain amount of sexual tension/eroticism in many of these books.
Ok so it may not be as blatant, as obvious, as in books such as Fifty Shades but it is, without doubt, there, gently simmering away.
Anyway,
To take a look at just one of the 'books' featured in this article on the subject, (you can check the rest HERE) I bring you .......
Jane Eyre

(With new bits in bold).

So, what thinks you? A fan of the classics, do you mind these being sexified? If not, which book(s) do you think could do with an updating?

I was not so impressed by Fifty Shades - it was a pornified Harlequin romance and therefore, formulaic and predictable. And most of the sex scenes weren't my cup of tea either.
I think they should leave the classics alone - isn't that plagiarism? I did read the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - it was fun for about a chapter and then fizzled for me.
You know...there are just some things that are best left to the imagination.

As for the classics with a twist, some work; some don't. Wasn't a fan of the one you mentioned, but Little Vampire Women wasn't that bad.
(Nice choice on the signature today though....a red feather pen....fits perfectly. LOL)
I also think we should leave more up to the imagination. No need to tamper with the classics in this regard.
I don't mind re imagining the classics... however... NO to the BDSM type for Jane Eyre. You would have to reinvent the characters, not just insert the naughty bits.
oh no! *the horror* I cannot imagine Darcy and Lizzie from P&Prejudice or any of Austens characters for that matter, getting down and dirty. It just seems wrong! lol
Turning them into zombies or vampires, is fine by me. But I draw the line at mixing erotica with the classics.
It doesn't really surprise me that people are adding on to the classics. I can't see reading any of the "mommy porn" myself, but I'm sure it will find an audience.

I don't care what people may classify it. Can we call "Lady Chatterly's Lover", porn?
I have no trouble with re-imaginings of classics, but just adding bits to the original seems wrong to me.
I don't mind when classics are given a modern twist or update- because there are people that may enjoy them. These aren't books that I would be interested in reading, but it sounds like the 50 Shades fans will be all over these. I do think that the whole book should be rewritten and updated though, not just adding some spicy scenes.

Oh go for it if it gets people reading more. perhaps the original authors really would have liked to have included a bit more spice themselves. Would I read them? I have read some zombie and vampire mash ups and they were funny and most enjoyable.
