MOTERS, MARSHMALLOWS AND MIAOWS.

“All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.” - Oscar Wilde.

More true than you might have thought?

Researchers say that they have identified 32 as the age at which women - and some men - finally turn into the matriarch in their lives with more than two thirds of women and one third of men saying they were turning into their mothers.
Both sexes said in a poll of 1,000 people that by their early 30's they are using phrases picked up from their mother. Others acquired habits including worrying. - The Telegraph (28/03/2011)READ MORE courtesy of MarieClaire.co.uk

Talking about falling foul of the law.

SUSPECTED BURGLAR DIALS 999.  A suspected burglar being chased from the scene of a crime fell down a 30ft well – and dialled 999 for paramedics himself.
The 21-year-old spent two hours down the hole in Boothtown, Yorkshire, in the early hours of the morning before being rescued by firefighters – and was promptly arrested. - The Metro (28/03/2011)

America has Disneyland, here in England we have .......

HOG HEAVEN FOR THE UNDER-FIVES. She's bright pink, bossy (I hate her) and her tv show is watched in more than 180 countries (yes, we're talking Peppa Pig.)
The character is such a phenomenon among the under-fives that she's appeared in video games and a live stage show. Now comes the ultimate accolade: Peppa Pig World. - The Guardian (28/03/2011)

Fancy a PIEce of cake?

A PORK PIE CAKE? Weighing in at 11.5g (1 stone, 11lbs) and with three tiers packed with pork, the pastry and pickle-laced cake provides an alternative treat for pie-loving newlyweds.
And what started out as a special favour to friends and staff among the butchers 250-strong workforce, it is now available to the public. - The Chronicle (31/03/2011)

Grief, I've just realised putting an article about a pork pie after a story about Peppa Pig - not very subtle was it?

Hardly a deadly weapon!

ASSAULT WITH A ...... MARSHMALLOW. Police  have quizzed a 13-year-old boy over an assault on another lad - with a marshmallow.
Officers swooped on Nathan Watch's school in Torpoint, Cornwall, after a sweet thrown by larking kids hit the lad.
(The boy's father) was called to the school to be told his son was being accused of "common assault" - and would be quizzed as it had become a "police matter".  - John Coles, The Sun (01/04/2011)

Hmm, the above article being printed on APRIL FOOLS DAY, I'm not too sure it isn't a hoax.

Nothing like saying it with .......

PLASTIC FLOWERS. A north east council has replaced the flowers in its hanging baskets with fakes ones.
Reaction to the hanging baskets has been mixed with some passengers-by calling them "tacky and cheap". - BBC News (03/04/2011)

Myself? I think its BLOOMing awful idea.

I left this one till last on PURRpose .........

SMOKEY, WORLD'S LOUDEST PURR?  Smokey's owner Ruth Adams hopes the moggy can be entered into the record books as the loudest purring domestic cat on the planet.
The 12-year-old moggy is 16 times louder than the average cat when she purrs, reaching 73 decibels which is as loud as a Boeing 747. - The Metro (03/04/2011) Click on 'Smokey' link to hear recording.

PLEASE NOTE: Wherever possible I Will endeavour to bring you the links to articles I have used in my Media Monday posts but this is not always possible.

I'm 40, so I think I turned into my mom long ago, although I still like loud music on occasion. Always very interesting, and if I had a cat that purred that loud, I'm probably give him to the first person I saw.

Thanks for providing all these. :)
...180 countries?
Peppa Pig is definitely a phenomenon.

As for the plastic flowers I find it quite indescribable/unbelievable.

Loved what you said above about it.

Hope you have a great Monday and an even better week.

Big hugs!

I don't think I would mind a marshmallow assault :D

Wow! It's sort of scary.

Ahahahah!!! Yes, poor timing on the pork pie story!! I'm not familiar with Peppa Pig, btw.

Even though my mother died when I was 17, I still can see that I've become her in many ways! Some good, some not so good.

My goodness, I don't want that cat, human snoring is enough to bear. XD

My last cat also didn't know how to purr... She was brought up by a pit bull who did snore, but never purred. lol

Don't know if you have them over your way but we have toy guns that shoot marshmallows here.

I really hope the marshmellow thing was a joke! The cat was so pretty! My cat sometimes vocalizes like that when he purrs, too. He's not as loud as a plane;)

Calling 999 is so funny.

Not sure about turning like mother...

I clicked through to listen to the cat. I wish they would have had a recording of the cat really purring as loud as a plane. It was a lot louder than regular purring though, but it seemed less like purring and more like a weird crossing between purring and meowing (like meowing with it's mouth shut). :)
