WANNA PLAY?

Visiting Hawk over at BROKEN DREAMS AND A  LITERARY ODYSSEY I was impressed by her suggestion of a BUDDYREAD, the idea being you "grab a book, grab a buddy, chat, discuss, and talk to each other while you are reading the book." Sound like a good idea? Not too sure how it works in practical terms, perhaps you discuss by e-mail and then publish the 'results'. Anyway, anyone out there care to join me as a buddyreader? Which book would you choose for us to read? OR if not me, which other person (perhaps an author, perhaps a fellow blogger) would you love to become your buddyreader?

Very nice idea .But I am not a voracious reader :( I would have loved to be your buddy reader.

There are a million authors I'd love to read with, none of which I know personally. LoL

I don't mind at all if you pass the idea along. We came up with it as we went along.

We met on GoodReads and from there we just clicked. We connected through books and we now chat w each other every day, well nearly.

We pick out books that we both have ( to read or re-read) and we try to pace ourselves as we read so we can talk about the book. Some books are good and we don't really ask each other questions but fly through the book. Other books are good and we find ourselves texting each other for hours while we read together. We ask where we are, who are favorite character is at that point, tell each other to watch for a certain page number then we discuss once we get there. We also share quotes w each other. It is rather fun! At also helps push each other not onoy to read more but to think of things that would make the other think.

We do this reads together but we post it on GoodReads in case others want to join in The read and discuss. Right now we are reading Breaking Dawn together. We have also been reading the House of Night series and the YA series by James Patterson.

For the acutal review we both did our own review. Although we read and discussed together we found different things in the book that we liked. We took our reviews and mended them together to make the ulimate review from two points to read together. We both had quotes we liked and surprise. They were all different. We used both rating symbols. But I have to give moat of the credit to Zakiya. She did most of the edit work. She did a most wonderful job!!!

Any other questions? We just fly by the seat of our pants. Every book has been different so far with our discussing. However, the book we chatted the most about has been The Host by Meyer's.

Do you have any ideas for a BuddyRead?

I think me and Zakiya, from Buttfly Feet Walking on Books, will be needing another book for BuddyReads. She is under age so for now our BuddyReads have been YA.

This is a good idea...But I am so lazy lately with reading...I wouldn't be a good partner...

Sounds almost like a very personalized, exclusive book club! I think it would be fun to read a book in tandem with you (discussing it by e-mail) and perhaps each then post our own reviews with a link to the other's review. Too bad the Matthew Shardlake books come out earlier over there than here or we could read the next one of those together!

This sounds like a great idea but I am always too busy to read much now. I think the last seven books I've read have been children's books!

Love this idea, but I have no spare time for reading, I'm afraid, lately! Life gets in and time goes by really fast!

Love and hugs,
B xx

I tried doing something similiar with an online bookclub on BN.com, but wound up reading the whole book immediately instead of pacing myself and participating in the discussion. Might be easier with just two people instead of an entire group. Emailing back and forth about a book as you're reading it does sound fun!
