David loves his bath time!

As Mum fills the bath with water, David get himself ready for a swimming adventure.

With toys and his fishing gear, he certainly enjoys splashing around in the water.

(And making a mess!)

Where will his imagination take him? ... Synopsis

"Come on, David! It's time for your bath," said Mum. ... First Sentence, Page 5

David came down the corridor wearing flippers, a snorkel, goggles, and carrying a small fishing net.

"Do you really need all those?" Mum asked.

"I need to dive down deep," he replied. 

"But the bath isn't deep enough."

David pulled his goggles down and put the snorkel in his mouth. He held up his thumb and mumbled down the tube.

Not the first time we have met David who we last saw playing happily with his toy cars and buses, awaiting the bin lorry on a Wednesday morning in David's Bin Day. Today we meet him as his Mum calls him for a bath ... but this is David and this is no usual bath time - or is it?

Yet another fun, colourful book from an author whose books my little bookworms and I have come to enjoy.

The story of a little boy, David, who, determined to enjoy his bath, his imagination fired, grabs hold of any number of things; a snorkel, a rubber swim ring, the list goes on, in order to make it as much fun as possible.

Now whilst I applaud David's imagination and ingenuity, I did have a slight issue in that I found some of David's behaviour, namely his inability to listen and act on what his Mum was saying, a bit, well, let's just leave it as, not something that I'd wish to encourage in a child. Still, I suppose it makes for a good starting point for talking with the child/children about what they would do it that situation which, as a supply teacher herself, I'm sure the author would have thought of.

Perfect for older readers who are reading for themselves as well as younger ones who will no doubt enjoy having the story read to them. The story is well written with little vocabulary and, with something happening on every page, offers lots of opportunities to discuss what the child/children what they think might happen next, all of which is supported by bold, vibrant and yet true to life illustrations that support the text beautifully. 

Looking forward to finding out what David's next adventure will be. I just hope that whatever it is his sister, Angela, puts in an appearance as she did in David's Bin Day, as my female little bookworm asked where she was and said she missed her not being in this book.

I am a Supply teacher working across Sussex and Surrey.

For over 20 years, alongside my teaching career, I worked with a Children’s Charity, a Playbus, which led me to write a photographic history book about it. (Bewbush Playbus.)

I have been telling stories about the bus which led me to writing the fictional tale. ‘Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus’, came out in print in 2014.

The story has led to other children’s stories.

‘David’s Bathtime Adventure’, as well as my last book ‘David’s Bin Day’, is a story about my comical little brother growing up and the games he liked to play.

​There are more stories written and on their way. (All of my stories do have a bus in them somewhere.)

​In my role as visiting Supply Teacher, I am able to share my stories.

​I have also undertaken author visits both in schools as well as online, visited libraries for story time and events on request.

​I have also used many of my books as a starting point for online learning with EYFSHome – providing ideas to support the books. (Both of the David stories were told as part of this which led to the writing of the books.)
