A BRIGHT RED LORRY AND OTHER RHYMES collected by BARBARA IRESON.
SOURCE: A blog win courtesy of March House Books, my many thanks to Barbara.
FIRST POEM: A Tractor by Barbara Ireson.
MEMORABLE MOMENT: Fat Old Witch by Leland B Jacobs (Words courtesy of ipernity: Weekly Readers).
MY THOUGHTS: First published in 1975 by Storychair Books this is a fun collection of some fourteen poems, many of them only a verse long, composed by various writers and illustrated by Ian West.
A vintage collection. Whilst arguably some readers may find some of the verse of its time I felt the book a delightful read that I would happily share with today's young readers.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds great for young readers.
ReplyDeleteAs for some of it seeming to be a bit dated, I personally think that both younger and older people benefit from exposure to some older styles.
I believe there are some things that never become dated and this sounds delightful to me.
