A romantic fiction-lover has taken her obsession with Victorian literature to the extreme - by living her modern life dressed as heroine Charlotte Bronte.
Lyn-Marie Cunliffe, 49, loves 19th century author Charlotte Bronte so much she dresses as the famous author all the time - even while doing her supermarket shopping.
The mum-of-two dresses in the home-made smocks whilst doing the school run - and not bothering to change even when she's out grabbing a burger with the kids.

So, which book character/author would you like to spend your life dressing as?

Wow. I'm a fan of 18th century fiction (romance and non) but I'd never subject myself to the clothing of that time. What a pain! I suspect the women who lived in the era wouldn't want to wear it either if they knew how comfortable modern clothes are. AND they could easily dress themselves, lol.
I meant 19th century *sigh*
oh my. But back in those days, all the gals dressed like that anyway.
I could dress up like that and say I'm Jane Austen :P
Oh dear! I love Bronte and Austen as much as the next girl but other than a fancy dress ball, I have zero desire to dress that way! I wonder how her kids feel!
:-)

just read your last post how uncanny its the same song that i want but i haven't said so(in my Will) yet
i agree it is a beautifull song
although i like that romantic clothing i prefer to wear clothes of my time.
have a great rest of your weekend!
xx
i like contemporary maxi-dresses as well. does that count?
Oh, wow! This might require some thought - but off the top of my head, perhaps Helena from the Marcus Didius Falco Mysteries by Lindsay Davis. They take place during the reign of Vespasian in Ancient Rome.
I am quite impressed by her dedication!
I'm not sure I could do this myself --unless I was in a play--I'm too shy to stand out so much, and also, I'm too practical and would not enjoy wearing all those layers of clothing. But if I were to have a sudden change of personality, I'd probably "go all out" and choose poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
Nancy Drew is the only one I have come up with so far. Historical clothing was so cumbersome, but Nancy as always so fresh and well put together. Just had to post this to my facebook wall.
I wonder how her kids and husband feel about it?
I have no idea who I would dress like -- Lisbeth Salander? That would be something -- I'd scare the bejeezus out of everyone.
Will wait for Monday Magic...
"Charlotte Bronte", reminds me of her work Jane Eyre.
But umm I do not know if I would fancy walking dressed as a Roman legionary for instance.
I would love to dress up like that, but maybe slightly modernised. I would probably be too worried of what people would say about me though.
Wow...that is certainly an interesting lifestyle choice. Can't say I'd join her permanently or any other character for that matter, but in small bouts, I'm game! I wonder how the kids feel about it though....doesn't exactly scream "trip to McDonald's on a Saturday" outfit now does it? *curious*
Sometimes the line between dedicated and nuts is a thin one.
